The tail gunner

My aunt had a brother called BOET. He served with the royal air force in the second world war. He was a tail gunner in a bomber aircraft. The story goes that he was about to come home to South Africa when he was asked to do one more mission over Germany. He got shot down and did not survive. I am reminded of a gentlemen called Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon. He said ‘Never short change yourself as you don’t know what fate has got planned for you‘ He said it in the context of bravery in going to the moon. Neil Armstrong the first man to walk on the moon said ‘ Choose courage over timidity’ He said it in the context of bravery in going to the moon and the risks involved.

BOET was brave to do that last mission. That particular mission changed the course of the war in Europe.

Bravery and courage is important no matter what fate has install for you.
